Market Maker Surveillance Report. BIOS, CATO, DUST, ESSI, QBIO, JDST, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, J
January 5, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5487 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3286 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2825 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BioScrip, Inc. (NASDAQ:BIOS), The Cato Corporation (NYSE:CATO), Direxion Daily Gold Miners Bear 3X Shares (NYSE:DUST), ECO SCIENCE SOLUTION (OTC:ESSI), QUEST BIOTECHNOLOGY (OTC:QBIO), Direxion Trust Shs Direxion Daily Junior Gold Miners Index Bear 3X ETF (NYSE:JDST). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BIOS $-0.240 -0.15% 1,359,253 37.60% 1,379,749 38.17% -20,496 -854 CATO $-4.460 -0.14% 181,577 26.81% 203,792 30.09% -22,215 -50 DUST $-7.140 -0.17% 3,852,952 31.74% 4,379,775 36.08% -526,823 -738 ESSI $-0.380 -0.14% 323,494 38.13% 472,038 55.64% -148,544 -3,909 QBIO $-2.550 -0.25% 153,702 30.60% 279,462 55.64% -125,760 -493 JDST $-7.050 -0.26% 4,719,606 33.96% 5,511,698 39.66% -792,092 -1,124Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BIOS with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.24000 and a Friction Factor of -854 shares. That means that it only took 854 more shares of selling than buying to move BIOS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
