December 28, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4015 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2172 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3669 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), Southern Pacific Resource Corp (NYSE:STP), Concho Resources Inc (NYSE:CXO), iShares MSCI All Country Asia ex Japan Index Fund (NASDAQ:AAXJ), ACTIVE NETWORK INC (NYSE:ACTV), (NYSE:BSMX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction F $0.060 0.47% 29,285,477 30.83% 24,860,909 26.17% 4,424,568 737,428 STP $0.070 5.26% 4,104,274 50.04% 2,238,509 27.29% 1,865,765 266,538 CXO $0.720 0.92% 1,205,107 48.42% 652,774 26.23% 552,333 7,671 AAXJ $0.310 0.52% 1,548,773 71.32% 592,828 27.30% 955,945 30,837 ACTV $0.100 2.13% 936,511 63.36% 211,384 14.30% 725,127 72,513 BSMX $0.130 0.79% 704,039 27.55% 234,734 9.18% 469,305 36,100Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows F with a Net Buy Volume of 4,424,568 shares and a Friction Factor of 737,428 shares. That means that it takes 737,428 more shares of buying than selling to move F higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
