October 2, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3966 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2527 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2779 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Tuesday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc (NASDAQ:GMCR), Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C), GILEAD SCIENCES, INC. (NASDAQ:GILD), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), RESEARCH IN MOTION (NASDAQ:RIMM), Finmeccanica SpA (OTC:FINMY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GMCR $0.680 2.92% 7,052,018 54.80% 5,592,298 43.45% 1,459,720 21,466 C $0.530 1.62% 8,251,071 32.90% 6,870,706 27.40% 1,380,365 26,045 GILD $1.710 2.54% 7,347,812 54.26% 6,017,245 44.44% 1,330,567 7,781 SIRI $0.050 2.14% 48,053,991 54.16% 40,673,973 45.84% 7,380,018 1,476,004 RIMM $0.430 5.47% 29,158,219 53.06% 25,790,789 46.93% 3,367,430 78,312 FINMY $0.100 4.13% 3,462,215 97.38% 93,056 2.62% 3,369,159 336,916Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GMCR with a Net Buy Volume of 1,459,720 shares and a Friction Factor of 21,466 shares. That means that it takes 21,466 more shares of buying than selling to move GMCR higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Tuesday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
