October 2, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3966 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2527 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2779 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Ctrip.Com International Ltd (NASDAQ:CTRP), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (NYSE:TSM), Activision Blizzard Inc (NASDAQ:ATVI), GenOn Energy Inc (NYSE:GEN), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CTRP $0.700 4.18% 1,360,687 43.90% 2,781,180 89.72% -1,420,493 Abnormal
  T $0.080 0.21% 5,155,552 25.76% 6,769,476 33.83% -1,613,924 Abnormal
  TSM $0.090 0.59% 5,039,435 28.65% 6,799,603 38.66% -1,760,168 Abnormal
  ATVI $0.010 0.09% 9,407,948 33.02% 19,078,104 66.96% -9,670,156 Abnormal
  GEN $0.040 1.55% 1,777,096 20.45% 4,713,474 54.24% -2,936,378 Abnormal
  QQQ $0.270 0.39% 14,307,897 46.01% 15,542,071 49.98% -1,234,174 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CTRP with 1,420,493 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.70000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
