July 30, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3992 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2361 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2929 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), GenOn Energy Inc (NYSE:GEN), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BAC $-0.040 -0.55% 29,294,856 39.37% 27,412,746 36.85% 1,882,110 Abnormal
  GE $-0.120 -0.57% 14,857,470 33.28% 13,148,967 29.45% 1,708,503 Abnormal
  CX $-0.260 -3.46% 3,897,128 39.88% 2,210,119 22.62% 1,687,009 Abnormal
  INTC $-0.260 -1.00% 13,809,891 53.48% 12,075,490 46.76% 1,734,401 Abnormal
  GEN $-0.010 -0.42% 6,698,749 40.25% 3,588,778 21.56% 3,109,971 Abnormal
  FB $-0.550 -2.34% 16,295,803 55.78% 12,853,234 44.00% 3,442,569 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 1,882,110 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
