National Bank is Proud to Welcome Tennis Hopefuls to the International Junior Tennis Open in Repentigny, Quebec

REPENTIGNY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2012) - National Bank invites you to the 27th annual International Junior Tennis Open to be held in Repentigny, Quebec from August 24 to September 1 in Parc Larochelle, located at 366 Marquis.

The winner of the boys' singles at this year's Wimbledon Tournament, B.C.'s Filip Peliwo, will be one of the featured players, while Quebec's Françoise Abanda, a finalist at last year's National Bank International Junior Tennis Open, will try to win top honours on the girls' side.

The National Bank International Junior Tennis Open is one of the largest international tennis tournaments bringing together the best players aged 14 to 18 from approximately 30 countries. The only international class Grade 1 tournament in Canada, the Open is currently ranked the 4th most important junior tournament in the world by the International Tennis Federation. This competition allows spectators to enjoy thrilling matches featuring the tennis superstars of tomorrow for free.

"As a longstanding sponsor of Canadian tennis, National Bank supports numerous organizations in Quebec and Ontario. Our financial support of the International Junior Tennis Open in Repentigny comes under National Bank's sports sponsorships program, which aims to promote excellence, determination and the training and development of athletes and the population at large," stated Diane Pilote, Vice-President - Sales and Service, Personal Banking for Laval, Northern and Western Quebec at National Bank. "Participating in this tournament also gives us another opportunity to promote our On the Ball program for recovering used tennis ball to benefit schools."

For a sixth year, National Bank will be pursuing this program in Quebec and launching it in Ontario. Using old balls as chair slippers helps reduce noise levels in the classroom and create better learning conditions for children. To date, this initiative has made it possible to collect over 500,000 balls to the delight of students and teachers.

National Bank will have a special team and booth on site at the tournament to encourage tennis fans to contribute used balls. In return, they will have the chance to win various instant prizes and be eligible for the grand prize, a dream day with On the Ball spokesperson and Canadian tennis champion Aleksandra Wozniak. For more information about the contest, the stops on the ball recovery tour, or to order used balls for schools or school boards, go to the site of the National Bank On the Ball Program at [ www.nbc.ca/ontheball ].

Every year, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank helps support hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focuses primarily on four main areas of activity - health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach - with the goal of generating positive benefits for communities.
