July 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4123 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2504 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2799 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Chimera Investment Corp (NYSE:CIM), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), Hewlett-Packard Co (NYSE:HPQ), SolarWinds Inc (NYSE:SWI), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CIM $-0.050 -2.15% 7,830,013 25.06% 17,911,573 57.32% -10,081,560 -2,016,312
  S $-0.160 -3.55% 41,395,852 33.41% 44,996,737 36.32% -3,600,885 -225,055
  INTC $-0.070 -0.27% 11,590,182 44.75% 14,245,126 55.00% -2,654,944 -379,278
  HPQ $-0.060 -0.33% 3,768,895 23.42% 7,020,775 43.62% -3,251,880 -541,980
  SWI $-0.030 -0.07% 1,443,839 15.27% 3,730,774 39.45% -2,286,935 -762,312
  FB $-1.520 -6.57% 25,601,271 45.84% 29,885,639 53.51% -4,284,368 -28,187
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CIM down $-0.05000 with a Friction Factor of -2,016,312 and a Net Volume of -10,081,560. That means that it takes 2,016,312 more shares of selling than buying to drop CIM by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
