July 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3485 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4404 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1463 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. AETERNA ZENTARIS INC (NASDAQ:AEZS), Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), CA Inc (NASDAQ:CA), Seven Arts Pictures PLC (NASDAQ:SAPX), Shanda Games Ltd (NASDAQ:GAME), Green Dot Corp (NYSE:GDOT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AEZS $-0.030 -6.84% 318,771 22.65% 1,088,391 77.35% -769,620 -256,540
  RAD $-0.030 -2.54% 2,236,711 30.95% 2,885,580 39.93% -648,869 -216,290
  CA $-1.870 -7.11% 6,391,360 46.86% 7,228,588 53.00% -837,228 -4,477
  SAPX $-0.010 -15.66% 3,312,470 40.14% 4,939,960 59.86% -1,627,490 -1,627,490

  GDOT $-14.250 -61.11% 5,788,810 31.67% 6,615,964 36.20% -827,154 -580
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AEZS down $-0.03000 with a Friction Factor of -256,540 and a Net Volume of -769,620. That means that it takes 256,540 more shares of selling than buying to drop AEZS by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
