National Bank is proud to have supported the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation's Duck Race for the second year in a row. The 16th edition of this popular West Island event, which took place last Saturday, June 16 at Valois Pool in Pointe-Claire, raised more than $88,000 that will be used to purchase top priority medical equipment for the Lakeshore General Hospital.
"As the event's title sponsor, National Bank is pleased to have once again contributed to the success of this race which is so important to West Islanders," said Carole Derome, Regional Manager - Western Montreal for National Bank. "This year, we were involved in many ways: we provided funds to hold the race, awarded a prize worth $1,000, and our employees at the branches and Regional Centre in Western Montreal volunteered their time for selling 2,072 tickets-822 more than last year! We welcomed this opportunity to contribute to the physical and financial well-being of West Island residents."
National Bank has a large presence in the West Island. Incidentally Mr. Ronsard Fanfan, winner of the National Bank Duck Race grand prize - a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta - had bought his lucky ticket at the National Bank branch located at 5990 Gouin West Boulevard in Montreal. With about 300 employees, some 15 branches and millions of dollars granted in financing, the Bank plays a leading role in the area's economic development. The Bank is also committed to the West Island's social development by contributing financially to community events, such as the Duck Race.
Every year, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank helps support hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focuses primarily on four main areas of activity - health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach - with the goal of generating positive benefits for communities.
