June 19, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3653 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4249 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1527 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), DUKE ENERGY CORP (NYSE:DUK), HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY (NYSE:HPQ), MCDONALD'S CORP (NYSE:MCD), AFFYMETRIX INC (NASDAQ:AFFX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DELL $-0.240 -1.93% 18,472,447 53.69% 15,875,206 46.14% 2,597,241 Abnormal
  RAD $-0.040 -3.28% 7,239,779 42.43% 5,850,009 34.28% 1,389,770 Abnormal
  DUK $-0.180 -0.77% 3,940,467 39.18% 2,757,610 27.42% 1,182,857 Abnormal
  HPQ $-0.240 -1.14% 7,076,339 32.84% 5,994,853 27.82% 1,081,486 Abnormal
  MCD $-0.430 -0.47% 2,755,527 36.76% 1,936,764 25.84% 818,763 Abnormal
  AFFX $-0.720 -13.36% 6,112,574 58.45% 4,372,900 41.82% 1,739,674 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DELL with 2,597,241 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.24000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
