Market Maker Surveillance Report. TGS, GNW, YPF, IN, UAPC, SVVC, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday, April
April 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3623 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2054 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3770 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TRANSPORTADOR GAS SUR-SP ADR (NYSE:TGS), GENWORTH FINANCIAL INC-CL A (NYSE:GNW), YPF S.A.-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:YPF), INTERMEC INC (NYSE:IN), UNITED AMERICAN PETROLEUM CORPORATION (OTC:UAPC), (NASDAQ:SVVC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TGS $-0.420 -16.22% 70,679 19.74% 118,318 33.04% -47,639 -1,134 GNW $-1.840 -23.90% 21,697,019 29.53% 24,709,940 33.64% -3,012,921 -16,375 YPF $-6.350 -32.56% 2,249,764 26.44% 2,401,567 28.23% -151,803 -239 IN $-2.050 -27.55% 622,155 29.14% 653,359 30.60% -31,204 -152 UAPC $-0.220 -16.30% 107,749 24.81% 310,467 71.48% -202,718 -9,214 SVVC $-6.000 -17.65% 58,562 37.54% 90,020 57.70% -31,458 -52Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TGS with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.42000 and a Friction Factor of -1,134 shares. That means that it only took 1,134 more shares of selling than buying to move TGS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
