Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, MO, GE, CB, CEG, XEL, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, March 12th 2012
March 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2421 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3374 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), ALTRIA GROUP INC (NYSE:MO), GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY (NYSE:GE), CHUBB CORP (NYSE:CB), Constellation Energy Group Inc (NYSE:CEG), XCEL ENERGY INC (NYSE:XEL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.090 0.42% 9,069,026 25.23% 11,303,559 31.45% -2,234,533 Abnormal MO $0.070 0.23% 4,442,101 27.66% 6,766,478 42.13% -2,324,377 Abnormal GE $0.120 0.63% 10,301,484 29.36% 12,437,292 35.45% -2,135,808 Abnormal CB $0.540 0.80% 733,940 14.88% 3,240,064 65.71% -2,506,124 Abnormal CEG $1.020 2.81% 4,194,853 25.98% 6,865,085 42.52% -2,670,232 Abnormal XEL $0.350 1.31% 991,395 14.50% 4,876,795 71.35% -3,885,400 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 2,234,533 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
