March 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2421 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3374 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:CDTI), POWERWAVE TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:PWAV), VELTI PLC (NASDAQ:VELT), NEWLEAD HOLDINGS LTD (NASDAQ:NEWL), YOUKU.COM INC-SPON ADR (NYSE:YOKU), (NASDAQ:TUDO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CDTI $1.790 57.56% 3,844,408 51.49% 3,543,310 47.46% 301,098 1,682
  PWAV $0.630 44.37% 1,791,806 58.86% 1,252,278 41.14% 539,528 8,564
  VELT $2.730 27.80% 2,388,173 50.36% 2,317,503 48.87% 70,670 259
  NEWL $0.530 96.36% 54,378 58.91% 37,735 40.88% 16,643 314
  YOKU $6.840 27.35% 8,531,779 32.61% 7,670,299 29.32% 861,480 1,259
  TUDO $24.020 156.08% 2,694,493 51.02% 2,414,176 45.71% 280,317 117
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CDTI with a dollar gain Monday of $1.79000 and a Friction Factor of 1,682 shares. That means that it only took 1,682 more shares of buying than selling to move CDTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
