February 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3543 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4166 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), Synovus Financial Corp (NYSE:SNV), CORNING INC (NYSE:GLW), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), BANCO SANTANDER BRASIL-ADS (NYSE:BSBR), SUMITOMO MITSUI-SPONS ADR (NYSE:SMFG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $0.310 3.98% 125,073,720 38.03% 109,874,263 33.41% 15,199,457 490,305 SNV $0.020 1.01% 8,553,185 76.86% 5,878,018 52.82% 2,675,167 1,337,584 GLW $0.290 2.14% 6,197,337 40.96% 3,290,327 21.75% 2,907,010 100,242 MSFT $1.080 3.60% 49,604,946 52.14% 45,479,486 47.80% 4,125,460 38,199 BSBR $0.090 0.85% 7,685,964 47.15% 3,832,230 23.51% 3,853,734 428,193 SMFG $0.090 1.31% 5,630,001 123.58% 239,444 5.26% 5,390,557 598,951Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC with a Net Buy Volume of 15,199,457 shares and a Friction Factor of 490,305 shares. That means that it takes 490,305 more shares of buying than selling to move BAC higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
