Market Maker Surveillance Report. EMKR, ITRI, SYNT, STFC, CYBI, FREE, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday,
February 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3543 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4166 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EMCORE CORP (NASDAQ:EMKR), ITRON, INC. (NASDAQ:ITRI), SYNTEL INC (NASDAQ:SYNT), STATE AUTO FINANCIAL CORP (NASDAQ:STFC), CYBEX INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:CYBI), FreeSeas Inc. - Common Stock (NASDAQ:FREE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EMKR $0.890 17.66% 167,281 54.29% 143,118 46.45% 24,163 271 ITRI $8.120 20.24% 2,121,520 50.06% 2,087,024 49.24% 34,496 42 SYNT $9.720 21.39% 303,379 50.46% 289,119 48.08% 14,260 15 STFC $3.240 26.45% 66,297 60.54% 42,908 39.18% 23,389 72 CYBI $0.480 26.01% 460,872 57.50% 332,038 41.43% 128,834 2,684 FREE $0.340 30.67% 259,660 55.26% 210,249 44.74% 49,411 1,453Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EMKR with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.89000 and a Friction Factor of 271 shares. That means that it only took 271 more shares of buying than selling to move EMKR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
