Market Maker Surveillance Report. MXWL, HAUP, DGIT, LWLG, NVIV, FTTN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, F
February 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3543 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4166 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Maxwell Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:MXWL), HAUPPAUGE DIGITAL INC (NASDAQ:HAUP), DG FASTCHANNEL INC (NASDAQ:DGIT), LIGHTWAVE LOGIC INC (OTCBB:LWLG), INVIVO THERAPTC (OTC:NVIV), (OTCBB:FTTN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MXWL $-3.100 -14.69% 101,788 41.71% 141,976 58.17% -40,188 -130 HAUP $-0.180 -13.04% 58,546 31.17% 129,310 68.83% -70,764 -3,931 DGIT $-2.770 -20.38% 1,618,057 49.08% 1,660,491 50.37% -42,434 -153 LWLG $-0.290 -14.50% 57,290 21.17% 144,632 53.44% -87,342 -3,012 NVIV $-0.420 -14.79% 495,711 44.57% 616,415 55.43% -120,704 -2,874 FTTN $-0.150 -10.71% 45,154 29.62% 85,473 56.07% -40,319 -2,688Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MXWL with a dollar loss Thursday of $-3.10000 and a Friction Factor of -130 shares. That means that it only took 130 more shares of selling than buying to move MXWL lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
