February 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3543 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4166 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2078 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), AMERICAN CAPITAL, LIMITED (NASDAQ:ACAS), Avis Budget Group Inc (NYSE:CAR), Hertz Global Holdings Inc (NYSE:HTZ), Clearwire Corp (NASDAQ:CLWR), GENON ENERGY INC (NYSE:GEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     S $-0.010 -0.58% 21,837,310 34.53% 19,380,945 30.65% 2,456,365 Abnormal
     ACAS $-0.280 -3.16% 4,907,993 57.86% 3,563,558 42.01% 1,344,435 Abnormal
     CAR $-1.940 -13.30% 7,632,105 59.15% 4,921,093 38.14% 2,711,012 Abnormal
     HTZ $-0.650 -4.45% 5,039,984 34.62% 4,033,454 27.71% 1,006,530 Abnormal
     CLWR $-0.200 -8.67% 12,755,145 58.08% 8,974,354 40.87% 3,780,791 Abnormal
     GEN $-0.010 -0.44% 3,056,421 42.91% 1,596,924 22.42% 1,459,497 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows S with 2,456,365 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
