December 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3534 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1762 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5171 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MOLYCORP INC (NYSE:MCP), ZAGG INC (NASDAQ:ZAGG), Federal National Mortgage Association Fannie Mae (OTC:FNMAS), FEDERAL NATIONAL MORTGAGE ASSOCI (OTC:FNMAT), Rare Element Resources Limited (AMEX:REE), (NYSE:USLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MCP $-3.900 -13.93% 2,251,900 29.48% 2,502,828 32.76% -250,928 -643
     ZAGG $-1.060 -13.50% 1,056,303 42.46% 1,431,510 57.54% -375,207 -3,540
     FNMAS $-0.130 -10.40% 41,379 46.72% 47,187 53.28% -5,808 -447
     FNMAT $-0.140 -11.67% 46,807 41.85% 65,029 58.15% -18,222 -1,302
     REE $-0.410 -11.29% 404,501 33.01% 411,111 33.55% -6,610 -161
     USLV $-5.240 -16.95% 93,613 16.10% 159,319 27.39% -65,706 -125
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MCP with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-3.90000 and a Friction Factor of -643 shares. That means that it only took 643 more shares of selling than buying to move MCP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
