Market Maker Surveillance Report. PERF, SHLD, CCM, ZLCS, XUE, WRN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Decem
December 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3813 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2805 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3068 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PERFUMANIA HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:PERF), SEARS HOLDINGS CORP (NASDAQ:SHLD), CONCORD MEDICAL - SPON ADR (NYSE:CCM), Zalicus Inc (NASDAQ:ZLCS), XUEDA EDUCATION GR-SPON ADR (NYSE:XUE), WESTERN COPPER CORP (AMEX:WRN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PERF $-6.200 -31.47% 84,898 47.49% 90,505 50.62% -5,607 -9 SHLD $-12.690 -27.68% 4,466,151 46.57% 4,898,248 51.07% -432,097 -341 CCM $-0.600 -17.70% 35,170 30.48% 58,596 50.79% -23,426 -390 ZLCS $-0.140 -10.53% 419,175 32.96% 852,418 67.04% -433,243 -30,946 XUE $-0.430 -10.75% 67,464 31.97% 79,665 37.76% -12,201 -284 WRN $-0.170 -10.37% 41,371 37.49% 41,550 37.65% -179 -11Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PERF with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-6.20000 and a Friction Factor of -9 shares. That means that it only took 9 more shares of selling than buying to move PERF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
