December 13, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3669 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1676 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4593 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. GARMIN LTD (NASDAQ:GRMN), BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP (NYSE:BSX), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), SYNOVIS LIFE TECHNOLOGIES IN (NASDAQ:SYNO), SLM CORP (NYSE:SLM), WASHINGTON MUTUAL INC (OTC:WAMUQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GRMN $0.260 0.70% 1,766,697 41.93% 2,239,331 53.15% -472,634 Abnormal
     BSX $0.040 0.70% 4,732,506 19.47% 7,258,635 29.86% -2,526,129 Abnormal
     NOK $0.030 0.60% 7,074,228 25.74% 7,695,071 28.00% -620,843 Abnormal
     SYNO $9.350 50.70% 1,181,834 31.50% 2,562,644 68.31% -1,380,810 Abnormal
     SLM $0.150 1.17% 1,886,019 43.94% 2,379,381 55.43% -493,362 Abnormal
     WAMUQ $0.020 26.99% 14,611,700 44.50% 15,635,551 47.62% -1,023,851 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GRMN with 472,634 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.26000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
