IRD Awarded CAD $1.8 Million Border Crossing Contract in Arizona

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - Nov. 21, 2011) - International Road Dynamics Inc. (TSX:IRD) (IRD) announced today the award of a contract for the amount of approximately CAD $1.8 Million for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Mariposa Port of Entry at the US Mexico border crossing near Nogales, Arizona.

The Port-Of-Entry Screening System will include the supply of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) scales, License Plate Readers (LPR), USDOT Readers, Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI), an EPIC (Expedited Processing at International Crossings) System. The system will pre-screen vehicles that pass over each of the seven lanes at the border crossing.

ADOT will use the information presented by the EPIC system as well as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) SAFER-CVIEW (Safety and Fitness Electronic Record – Commercial Vehicle Information Exchange Window) data and determine if each commercial vehicle has met all the screening criteria. ADOT, in cooperation with FMCSA and the Department of Public Safety (DPS), may also have other manual screening criteria that will be applied to the commercial vehicles. If a vehicle is determined to meet all screening criteria (ADOT, FMCSA and DPS) at the ADOT enforcement lane, and no inspections are required, it will be released, and can exit the facilities.

Mr. Terry Bergan, IRD President and CEO, noted, "The application of our state-of-the-art solutions at border crossings is a relatively new market for IRD, and we are very pleased to be assisting ADOT with their vehicle screening and approval process. Going forward we will build on our reputation as a leading provider of Intelligent Transportation Systems technologies in this and other markets around the world."
