October 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 1619 companies with "abnormal" market making, 792 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1128 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EMISPHERE TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:EMIS), CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:CDTI), DISH NETWORK CORP-A (NASDAQ:DISH), CREE INC (NASDAQ:CREE), AUTHENTEC INC (NASDAQ:AUTH), ESPRIT HOLDINGS LTD-SPON ADR (OTC:ESPGY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EMIS $0.180 10.91% 160,625 68.84% 72,703 31.16% 87,922 4,885 CDTI $0.860 34.82% 399,005 53.63% 338,427 45.48% 60,578 704 DISH $1.450 5.79% 1,944,579 49.92% 1,863,086 47.83% 81,493 562 CREE $1.880 7.11% 3,818,876 50.58% 3,680,047 48.74% 138,829 738 AUTH $0.300 9.29% 90,606 62.47% 54,422 37.53% 36,184 1,206 ESPGY $0.160 6.64% 296,895 52.72% 239,930 42.60% 56,965 3,560Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EMIS with a dollar gain Friday of $0.18000 and a Friction Factor of 4,885 shares. That means that it only took 4,885 more shares of buying than selling to move EMIS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
