October 5, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4162 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4175 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1952 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), IRON MOUNTAIN INC (NYSE:IRM), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCT DEVEL (NASDAQ:PPDI), ACME PACKET INC (NASDAQ:APKT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BAC $-0.070 -1.22% 93,830,797 32.29% 84,119,293 28.95% 9,711,504 Abnormal
     SIRI $-0.020 -1.36% 27,886,921 60.70% 19,095,256 41.57% 8,791,665 Abnormal
     IRM $-0.460 -1.52% 2,681,578 46.41% 1,170,716 20.26% 1,510,862 Abnormal
     T $-0.040 -0.14% 9,963,789 30.94% 8,517,797 26.45% 1,445,992 Abnormal
     PPDI $-0.030 -0.11% 12,909,793 74.85% 4,336,596 25.14% 8,573,197 Abnormal
     APKT $-2.370 -5.53% 8,401,093 53.94% 6,950,159 44.62% 1,450,934 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 9,711,504 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
