Market Maker Surveillance Report. SPIL, VLNC, KFT, LOW, ACI, MMI, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, June 27th 2011
June 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4511 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3560 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2950 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SILICONWARE PRECISION-SP ADR (NASDAQ:SPIL), VALENCE TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:VLNC), KRAFT FOODS INC-CLASS A (NYSE:KFT), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), ARCH COAL INC (NYSE:ACI), MOTOROLA MOBILITY HOLDINGS I (NYSE:MMI). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SPIL $-0.050 -0.79% 2,828,506 58.78% 1,983,915 41.22% 844,591 Abnormal VLNC $-0.010 -0.83% 1,378,932 67.54% 662,757 32.46% 716,175 Abnormal KFT $-0.100 -0.29% 3,138,111 32.87% 2,177,350 22.80% 960,761 Abnormal LOW $-0.020 -0.10% 4,837,932 37.15% 3,244,996 24.92% 1,592,936 Abnormal ACI $-0.230 -0.91% 2,091,026 41.36% 1,113,802 22.03% 977,224 Abnormal MMI $-0.450 -1.95% 1,703,672 39.93% 1,041,972 24.42% 661,700 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SPIL with 844,591 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
