June 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4355 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2537 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4013 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. FEDERAL ENERGY CORP (NYSE:FENG), (NYSE:QIHU), (OTC:AAST), HAMPTON ROADS BANKSHARES INC (NASDAQ:HMPR), DURECT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:DRRX), PAIN THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:PTIE). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FENG $-0.920 -10.31% 105,327 28.32% 161,733 43.48% -56,406 -613
     QIHU $-1.770 -9.83% 483,133 28.69% 634,514 37.68% -151,381 -855
     AAST $-0.180 -15.65% 204,469 42.95% 249,040 52.32% -44,571 -2,476
     HMPR $-1.440 -9.60% 259,670 16.06% 2,456,889 152.00% -2,197,219 -15,258
     DRRX $-1.010 -32.66% 2,372,161 45.16% 2,879,803 54.82% -507,642 -5,026
     PTIE $-3.940 -42.61% 4,755,711 49.50% 4,777,301 49.72% -21,590 -55
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FENG with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.92000 and a Friction Factor of -613 shares. That means that it only took 613 more shares of selling than buying to move FENG lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
