June 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4355 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2537 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4013 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. TELEKOM AUSTRIA AG (OTC:TKMAF), APPLIED ENERGETICS INC (NASDAQ:AERG), WASHINGTON MUTUAL INC (OTC:WAMUQ), CYTRX CORP (NASDAQ:CYTR), MATTSON TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:MTSN), CYTOKINETICS INC (NASDAQ:CYTK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TKMAF $0.040 0.29% 21,025,000 65.65% 11,000,000 34.35% 10,025,000 2,506,250 AERG $0.010 3.86% 8,719,776 89.53% 997,508 10.24% 7,722,268 7,722,268 WAMUQ $0.043 35.33% 15,743,421 66.83% 7,613,443 32.32% 8,129,978 1,886,306 CYTR $0.010 1.11% 12,303,468 93.02% 923,089 6.98% 11,380,379 11,380,379 MTSN $0.060 3.50% 8,677,937 87.77% 1,086,743 10.99% 7,591,194 1,265,199 CYTK $0.050 4.35% 7,454,007 92.64% 592,220 7.36% 6,861,787 1,372,357Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TKMAF with a Net Buy Volume of 10,025,000 shares and a Friction Factor of 2,506,250 shares. That means that it takes 2,506,250 more shares of buying than selling to move TKMAF higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
