Market Maker Surveillance Report. CHNR, CDTI, HMPR, CMCI, YLWPF, VRNG, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Ju
June 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4511 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3560 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2950 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHINA NATURAL RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:CHNR), CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:CDTI), HAMPTON ROADS BANKSHARES INC (NASDAQ:HMPR), CAPTAINS MGMT CORP I (OTC:CMCI), YELLOW MEDIA INC (OTC:YLWPF), VRINGO INC (AMEX:VRNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CHNR $-1.880 -17.55% 26,960 43.99% 34,330 56.01% -7,370 -39 CDTI $-0.790 -15.25% 264,255 43.46% 343,416 56.48% -79,161 -1,002 HMPR $-2.350 -17.49% 364,371 48.35% 376,476 49.96% -12,105 -52 CMCI $-0.330 -22.76% 72,291 20.36% 127,087 35.80% -54,796 -1,660 YLWPF $-0.548 -18.20% 235,958 25.05% 320,400 34.02% -84,442 -1,541 VRNG $-0.220 -16.92% 26,398 25.83% 50,002 48.92% -23,604 -1,073Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CHNR with a dollar loss Monday of $-1.88000 and a Friction Factor of -39 shares. That means that it only took 39 more shares of selling than buying to move CHNR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
