April 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2643 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3307 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1959 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ISHARES FTSE CHINA 25 INDEX (NYSE:FXI), FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), TENET HEALTHCARE CORP (NYSE:THC), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC (NYSE:TXN), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FXI $0.180 0.39% 2,559,166 21.34% 4,656,064 38.82% -2,096,898 Abnormal
     XLF $0.100 0.62% 13,344,603 26.41% 16,623,482 32.90% -3,278,879 Abnormal
     THC $0.050 0.67% 5,039,404 20.44% 8,551,231 34.68% -3,511,827 Abnormal
     XOM $1.180 1.37% 3,809,141 21.48% 6,435,700 36.29% -2,626,559 Abnormal
     TXN $0.140 0.39% 2,859,755 20.80% 6,781,329 49.32% -3,921,574 Abnormal
     INTC $0.540 2.46% 50,317,598 47.54% 55,137,146 52.10% -4,819,548 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FXI with 2,096,898 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.18000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
