April 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2643 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3307 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1959 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. IMATION CORP (NYSE:IMN), DUSA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:DUSA), ACTIVE POWER INC (NASDAQ:ACPW), CIMATRON LTD (NASDAQ:CIMT), UNDER ARMOUR INC-CLASS A (NYSE:UA), GULF RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:GFRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     IMN $-1.470 -12.57% 127,289 23.83% 206,352 38.64% -79,063 -538
     DUSA $-0.790 -13.37% 640,303 42.10% 832,620 54.75% -192,317 -2,434
     ACPW $-0.310 -11.19% 454,600 35.48% 826,697 64.52% -372,097 -12,003
     CIMT $-0.420 -11.35% 74,894 39.92% 85,897 45.79% -11,003 -262
     UA $-8.830 -11.25% 1,344,023 29.22% 1,656,137 36.01% -312,114 -353
     GFRE $-1.170 -30.39% 5,813,798 48.62% 6,103,856 51.05% -290,058 -2,479
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IMN with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-1.47000 and a Friction Factor of -538 shares. That means that it only took 538 more shares of selling than buying to move IMN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
