April 11, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2540 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1842 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3707 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), TENET HEALTHCARE CORP (NYSE:THC), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), NOVARTIS AG-ADR (NYSE:NVS), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), SBA COMMUNICATIONS CORP-CL A (NASDAQ:SBAC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GE $-0.070 -0.35% 13,889,888 47.39% 11,569,758 39.47% 2,320,130 Abnormal
     THC $-1.050 -13.91% 43,114,065 50.19% 38,574,670 44.91% 4,539,395 Abnormal
     CX $-0.160 -1.81% 16,706,162 98.22% 4,994,252 29.36% 11,711,910 Abnormal
     NVS $-0.020 -0.04% 5,138,384 58.31% 2,801,310 31.79% 2,337,074 Abnormal
     WFC $-0.220 -0.70% 13,451,919 49.55% 9,715,045 35.78% 3,736,874 Abnormal
     SBAC $-0.230 -0.59% 2,902,225 151.41% 331,480 17.29% 2,570,745 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GE with 2,320,130 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
