January 14, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2358 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3378 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2061 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI), IGO INC (NASDAQ:IGOI), EVERGREEN ENERGY INC (NYSE:EEE), EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS-CLASS A (NASDAQ:EMMS), COINSTAR INC (NASDAQ:CSTR), BARNWELL INDUSTRIES INC (AMEX:BRN). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     STVI $-0.460 -18.25% 411,315 41.29% 413,685 41.52% -2,370 -52
     IGOI $-0.700 -14.00% 829,988 45.16% 1,002,010 54.52% -172,022 -2,457
     EEE $-0.590 -22.71% 2,210,956 41.43% 3,159,810 59.21% -948,854 -16,082
     EMMS $-0.200 -14.49% 415,292 42.27% 567,148 57.73% -151,856 -7,593
     CSTR $-15.500 -27.22% 9,213,316 47.66% 9,879,342 51.11% -666,026 -430
     BRN $-1.820 -20.36% 140,546 38.85% 154,233 42.63% -13,687 -75

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BRN with a dollar loss Friday of $-1.82000 and a Friction Factor of -75 shares. That means that it only took 75 more shares of selling than buying to move BRN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
