January 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2763 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2210 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2854 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), SOUTHERN CO (NYSE:SO), NISOURCE INC (NYSE:NI), FIRSTENERGY CORP (NYSE:FE), PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), MEDINAH MINERALS INC (OTC:MDMN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction S $0.010 0.22% 26,591,163 50.47% 22,197,378 42.13% 4,393,785 4,393,785 SO $0.110 0.29% 8,400,553 82.93% 1,444,406 14.26% 6,956,147 632,377 NI $0.290 1.62% 6,195,795 82.48% 1,117,587 14.88% 5,078,208 175,111 FE $0.160 0.42% 5,341,119 77.03% 1,212,948 17.49% 4,128,171 258,011 PFE $0.110 0.61% 101,291,364 77.50% 23,211,169 17.76% 78,080,195 7,098,200 MDMN $0.029 20.43% 12,712,035 59.50% 8,567,539 40.10% 4,144,496 1,449,124
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MDMN with a Net Buy Volume of 4,144,496 shares and a Friction Factor of 1,449,124 shares. That means that it takes 1,449,124 more shares of buying than selling to move MDMN higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
