Market Maker Surveillance Report. HWD, IMUC, ACCP, ZQK, GAJ, OPTI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Decemb
December 10, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2415 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3440 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2010 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. HARRY WINSTON DIAMOND CORP (NYSE:HWD), IMMUNOCELLULAR THERAPEUTICS (OTCBB:IMUC), ACCESS PHARMACEUTICALS INC (OTCBB:ACCP), QUIKSILVER INC (NYSE:ZQK), The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc. 9 3/8% Senior Quarterly Interest (NYSE:GAJ), OPTI INC (OTCBB:OPTI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction HWD $-1.850 -12.87% 315,894 39.45% 399,811 49.93% -83,917 -454 IMUC $-0.150 -10.34% 301,618 45.33% 359,941 54.09% -58,323 -3,888 ACCP $-0.770 -23.40% 246,265 47.26% 274,781 52.74% -28,516 -370 ZQK $-0.600 -10.56% 1,733,435 45.53% 1,738,289 45.66% -4,854 -81 GAJ $-8.930 -59.34% 779,316 34.15% 1,120,586 49.11% -341,270 -382 OPTI $-0.320 -11.76% 99,535 28.66% 242,940 69.94% -143,405 -4,481
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows OPTI with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.32000 and a Friction Factor of -4,481 shares. That means that it only took 4,481 more shares of selling than buying to move OPTI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
