Despite all the hype around cryptocurrency, the vast majority of Americans say they're uncomfortable investing in it, according to Bankrate's 2025 Long-Term Investment Survey. Nearly 4 in 5 Americans (78 percent) say they're not comfortable putting their investment dollars in crypto.

A recent survey by GOBankingRates reveals that 78% of Americans feel uncomfortable investing in the stock market, with many citing a lack of knowledge and fear of losing money as primary reasons. The survey, which polled 1,000 Americans, found that 39% are "very uncomfortable" and 39% are "somewhat uncomfortable" with investing. Only 22% of respondents felt comfortable, with just 6% being "very comfortable." The discomfort is more pronounced among women, with 84% feeling uneasy compared to 72% of men. Additionally, the survey highlighted that 43% of Americans have no investments at all, and among those who do invest, many prefer safer options like savings accounts and CDs over stocks and mutual funds. Financial experts suggest that education and starting with small investments could help alleviate these fears and encourage more Americans to participate in the stock market.
