May 9, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5423 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2706 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3164 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Fund (NYSE:FXI), iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE:EEM), Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT), Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), Vale S.A. (NYSE:VALE), Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction FXI $0.640 0.02% 6,406,963 22.52% 9,885,093 34.75% -3,478,130 Abnormal EEM $0.510 0.01% 21,837,757 30.29% 23,928,383 33.19% -2,090,626 Abnormal CAT $0.030 0.00% 1,078,168 9.14% 6,929,009 58.75% -5,850,841 Abnormal F $0.030 0.00% 10,916,945 23.83% 13,401,010 29.26% -2,484,065 Abnormal VALE $0.130 0.02% 11,656,256 30.75% 15,643,931 41.26% -3,987,675 Abnormal SNAP $0.830 0.04% 6,041,919 34.39% 7,860,966 44.74% -1,819,047 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FXI with 3,478,130 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.64000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
