May 3, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 5446 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2072 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3737 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Nanometrics Incorporated (NASDAQ:NANO), RAIT Financial Trust (NYSE:RAS), Celadon Group Inc. (NYSE:CGI), PCM Inc. (NASDAQ:PCMI), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR), ITUS Corp (NASDAQ:ITUS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NANO $-5.180 -0.16% 350,057 31.53% 357,834 32.23% -7,777 -15
  RAS $-0.470 -0.15% 603,739 34.94% 736,094 42.60% -132,355 -2,816
  CGI $-0.250 -0.14% 1,010,214 25.50% 1,544,497 38.99% -534,283 -21,371
  PCMI $-3.200 -0.14% 150,033 23.06% 190,173 29.23% -40,140 -125
  FTR $-0.290 -0.15% 44,383,698 38.50% 48,492,660 42.07% -4,108,962 -141,688
  ITUS $-0.670 -0.38% 78,838 24.25% 108,272 33.30% -29,434 -439
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NANO with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-5.18000 and a Friction Factor of -15 shares. That means that it only took 15 more shares of selling than buying to move NANO lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
