April 13, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5210 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1885 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4236 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MoSys Inc. (NASDAQ:MOSY), Papa Murphy's Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH), China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (NASDAQ:CNTF), Globus Mrtm (NASDAQ:GLBS), SemiLEDs Corporation (NASDAQ:LEDS), North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. (NYSE:NADL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MOSY $-0.690 -0.36% 316,385 31.05% 460,341 45.18% -143,956 -2,086 FRSH $-0.960 -0.15% 416,898 35.60% 485,852 41.49% -68,954 -718 CNTF $-0.380 -0.14% 164,700 37.32% 214,848 48.69% -50,148 -1,320 GLBS $-0.450 -0.13% 309,544 36.82% 346,027 41.16% -36,483 -811 LEDS $-0.810 -0.20% 48,246 35.19% 65,255 47.60% -17,009 -210 NADL $-0.550 -0.21% 1,139,148 39.60% 1,286,829 44.73% -147,681 -2,685Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MOSY with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.69000 and a Friction Factor of -2,086 shares. That means that it only took 2,086 more shares of selling than buying to move MOSY lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
