April 13, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5210 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1885 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4236 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE:EEM), ImmunoGen, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMGN), Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), Kroger Co (NYSE:KR), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Midcoast Energy Partners L.P. (NYSE:MEP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  EEM $0.060 0.00% 14,101,934 28.00% 19,252,687 38.23% -5,150,753 Abnormal
  IMGN $0.280 0.10% 982,167 19.43% 2,558,718 50.61% -1,576,551 Abnormal
  MU $0.100 0.00% 8,987,209 34.66% 10,274,787 39.63% -1,287,578 Abnormal
  KR $0.110 0.00% 2,040,009 23.45% 3,312,639 38.07% -1,272,630 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.410 0.01% 4,691,496 26.77% 5,989,914 34.18% -1,298,418 Abnormal
  MEP $0.050 0.01% 27,859 1.90% 1,326,853 90.26% -1,298,994 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EEM with 5,150,753 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
