March 31, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5397 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3401 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2573 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Educational Development Corporation (NASDAQ:EDUC), Orexigen Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:OREX), LabStyle Innovations Corp (NASDAQ:DRIO), Akers Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:AKER), Forward Pharma A/S (NASDAQ:FWP), Pulse Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:PLSE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  EDUC $-1.500 -0.19% 47,188 29.91% 66,327 42.04% -19,139 -128
  OREX $-0.450 -0.12% 245,523 30.68% 301,166 37.63% -55,643 -1,237
  DRIO $-0.890 -0.23% 376,478 32.50% 462,013 39.88% -85,535 -961
  AKER $-0.350 -0.16% 202,691 36.15% 245,175 43.73% -42,484 -1,214
  FWP $-5.340 -0.20% 55,926 29.77% 58,692 31.25% -2,766 -5
  PLSE $-6.620 -0.25% 511,199 30.40% 616,674 36.67% -105,475 -159
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EDUC with a dollar loss Friday of $-1.50000 and a Friction Factor of -128 shares. That means that it only took 128 more shares of selling than buying to move EDUC lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
