March 23, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5452 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3273 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2518 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLF), Nike Inc. (NYSE:NKE), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO), New York Community Bancorp Inc. (NYSE:NYCB), JD.com Inc. (NASDAQ:JD). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLF $0.020 0.00% 24,189,386 28.61% 27,532,204 32.57% -3,342,818 Abnormal
  NKE $1.470 0.03% 6,108,386 25.45% 9,167,087 38.20% -3,058,701 Abnormal
  MS $0.380 0.01% 3,090,230 18.39% 6,222,712 37.03% -3,132,482 Abnormal
  YHOO $0.540 0.01% 1,503,875 18.30% 4,382,364 53.34% -2,878,489 Abnormal
  NYCB $0.150 0.01% 1,256,639 15.87% 4,244,429 53.60% -2,987,790 Abnormal
  JD $0.710 0.02% 1,451,171 16.58% 4,859,350 55.50% -3,408,179 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 3,342,818 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
