December 29, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5408 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3654 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2793 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (NYSE:IWM), SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE:SPY), General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), Direxion Daily Gold Miners Bull 3X Shares (NYSE:NUGT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IWM $0.110 0.00% 5,170,703 24.31% 6,801,833 31.98% -1,631,130 Abnormal
  SPY $0.020 0.00% 11,574,617 24.25% 14,519,464 30.42% -2,944,847 Abnormal
  GE $0.060 0.00% 4,799,072 28.45% 6,260,298 37.12% -1,461,226 Abnormal
  V $0.030 0.00% 1,339,127 22.26% 2,612,197 43.42% -1,273,070 Abnormal
  GDX $1.520 0.08% 30,323,467 23.88% 59,224,093 46.64% -28,900,626 Abnormal
  NUGT $1.570 0.22% 35,727,468 40.41% 36,967,194 41.82% -1,239,726 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 1,631,130 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
