December 19, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5566 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3201 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3156 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Fund (NYSE:FXI), Merck & Co Inc. (NYSE:MRK), KeyCorp (NYSE:KEY), Vanguard Europe Pacific ETF (NYSE:VEA), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ), Dniprogaz JSC (NYSE:DGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  FXI $-0.140 -0.00% 7,217,257 35.95% 4,105,979 20.45% 3,111,278 Abnormal
  MRK $-1.360 -0.02% 4,419,181 37.27% 2,934,347 24.75% 1,484,834 Abnormal
  KEY $-0.070 -0.00% 6,070,971 43.51% 4,391,172 31.47% 1,679,799 Abnormal
  VEA $-0.030 -0.00% 4,567,271 45.44% 3,111,169 30.96% 1,456,102 Abnormal
  GDXJ $-1.460 -0.05% 10,369,594 49.52% 4,323,978 20.65% 6,045,616 Abnormal
  DGAZ $-0.070 -0.02% 9,118,595 37.51% 7,145,275 29.39% 1,973,320 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FXI with 3,111,278 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.14000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
