September 26, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5384 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1731 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4698 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Durect Corporation (NASDAQ:DRRX), SkyPeople Fruit Juice Inc (NASDAQ:SPU), Bonso Electronics International, Inc. (NASDAQ:BNSO), Pain Therapeutics (NASDAQ:PTIE), China Commercial Credit (NASDAQ:CCCR), Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACOR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DRRX $-0.560 -0.33% 3,177,468 28.03% 3,499,400 30.87% -321,932 -5,749
  SPU $-1.710 -0.17% 106,885 27.34% 174,552 44.64% -67,667 -396
  BNSO $-0.220 -0.12% 60,262 32.12% 79,291 42.26% -19,029 -865
  PTIE $-1.390 -0.51% 6,183,593 37.84% 6,495,934 39.75% -312,341 -2,247
  CCCR $-0.250 -0.11% 31,356 18.06% 45,145 26.00% -13,789 -552
  ACOR $-4.290 -0.16% 799,555 28.26% 905,116 31.99% -105,561 -246
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DRRX with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.56000 and a Friction Factor of -5,749 shares. That means that it only took 5,749 more shares of selling than buying to move DRRX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
