September 20, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5710 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2652 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3111 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD), Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE:WFC), Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (NYSE:HOT), Corning Inc. (NYSE:GLW), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), db-X MSCI EAFE Hedged Equity Fund (NYSE:DBEF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GILD $2.710 0.03% 4,517,747 26.56% 7,009,986 41.21% -2,492,239 Abnormal
  WFC $0.550 0.01% 16,357,385 31.81% 19,241,632 37.42% -2,884,247 Abnormal
  HOT $1.810 0.02% 1,607,562 16.16% 4,147,940 41.71% -2,540,378 Abnormal
  GLW $0.030 0.00% 1,395,660 18.24% 3,989,529 52.13% -2,593,869 Abnormal
  GDX $0.010 0.00% 8,178,300 22.45% 18,957,444 52.04% -10,779,144 Abnormal
  DBEF $0.160 0.01% 4,322,825 28.22% 8,710,138 56.86% -4,387,313 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GILD with 2,492,239 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $2.71000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
