On Monday there were 3676 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3628 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1763 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Central European Media Enterprises Ltd (NASDAQ:CETV), Capital Trust Inc (NYSE:CT), Oculus Innovative Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:OCLS), Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:LXRX), China Hgs Real Estate Inc (NASDAQ:HGSH), Lentuo International Inc (NYSE:LAS). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CETV $-0.540 -12.39% 135,602 44.81% 167,011 55.19% -31,409 -582 CT $-0.270 -10.76% 107,737 36.80% 113,094 38.63% -5,357 -198 OCLS $-0.960 -17.36% 69,969 48.63% 73,806 51.30% -3,837 -40 LXRX $-0.310 -13.45% 2,283,129 46.28% 2,606,962 52.84% -323,833 -10,446 HGSH $-2.880 -23.55% 107,220 41.72% 147,178 57.26% -39,958 -139 LAS $-0.830 -31.68% 140,683 31.93% 154,095 34.97% -13,412 -162Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CETV with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.54000 and a Friction Factor of -582 shares. That means that it only took 582 more shares of selling than buying to move CETV lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
