April 24, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3783 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3183 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2040 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Media General Inc (NYSE:MEG), DeVry Inc (NYSE:DV), Superconductor Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SCON), East West Petroleum Corp (NYSE:EW), Vocus Inc (NASDAQ:VOCS), China Ceramics Co Ltd (NASDAQ:CCCL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MEG $-1.340 -15.09% 152,210 35.66% 155,308 36.39% -3,098 -23
  DV $-7.200 -21.16% 1,156,353 29.51% 1,213,698 30.98% -57,345 -80
  SCON $-1.430 -26.24% 946,638 47.72% 1,021,259 51.48% -74,621 -522
  EW $-18.260 -22.05% 3,281,128 28.63% 4,558,001 39.77% -1,276,873 -699
  VOCS $-5.070 -38.03% 5,494,894 45.60% 6,289,022 52.19% -794,128 -1,566
  CCCL $-0.300 -12.71% 161,135 33.24% 322,698 66.56% -161,563 -5,385
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MEG with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-1.34000 and a Friction Factor of -23 shares. That means that it only took 23 more shares of selling than buying to move MEG lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
