April 8, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3923 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3137 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2244 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), MGIC Investment Corp (NYSE:MTG), Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX), JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA), SAIC Inc (NYSE:SAI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  KO $0.780 1.95% 6,213,618 27.48% 9,736,073 43.05% -3,522,455 Abnormal
  MTG $0.530 10.73% 10,847,807 34.27% 12,601,741 39.81% -1,753,934 Abnormal
  FCX $0.160 0.50% 3,345,199 23.47% 6,492,130 45.56% -3,146,931 Abnormal
  JPM $0.670 1.40% 4,267,747 22.98% 6,081,413 32.75% -1,813,666 Abnormal
  NWSA $0.770 2.51% 7,531,274 43.63% 9,527,918 55.19% -1,996,644 Abnormal
  SAI $0.070 0.51% 1,472,379 18.22% 5,489,090 67.94% -4,016,711 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows KO with 3,522,455 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.78000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
