March 22, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3947 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2932 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2297 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc (NASDAQ:EGLE), FreeSeas Inc (NASDAQ:FREE), Halozyme Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:HALO), Top Ships Inc (NASDAQ:TOPS), Sino-Global Shipping America Ltd (NASDAQ:SINO), MusclePharm Corp (OTC:MSLP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  EGLE $0.490 14.37% 1,184,366 51.40% 1,120,025 48.60% 64,341 1,313
  FREE $0.240 21.61% 1,022,644 51.60% 959,116 48.40% 63,528 2,647
  HALO $1.630 30.93% 3,904,889 51.16% 3,714,852 48.67% 190,037 1,166
  TOPS $0.340 34.00% 242,731 57.48% 176,803 41.87% 65,928 1,939
  SINO $0.360 19.70% 81,716 52.74% 73,215 47.26% 8,501 236
  MSLP $1.670 20.37% 94,396 28.34% 40,425 12.13% 53,971 323
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EGLE with a dollar gain Friday of $0.49000 and a Friction Factor of 1,313 shares. That means that it only took 1,313 more shares of buying than selling to move EGLE higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
