February 5, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4009 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3417 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2010 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Alumina Ltd (NYSE:AWC), TIME WARNER INC. (NYSE:TWX), Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), H & R Block Inc (NYSE:HRB), Appulse Corp (NYSE:APL), SANDRIDGE ENERGY, INC. (NYSE:SD). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AWC $-0.160 -3.46% 710,375 77.45% 107,870 11.76% 602,505 Abnormal
  TWX $-0.450 -0.89% 2,502,137 33.58% 1,915,514 25.71% 586,623 Abnormal
  MU $-0.010 -0.13% 11,250,696 53.28% 9,864,299 46.72% 1,386,397 Abnormal
  HRB $-0.080 -0.34% 2,341,203 40.42% 1,721,830 29.72% 619,373 Abnormal
  APL $-0.960 -2.82% 747,250 72.19% 169,112 16.34% 578,138 Abnormal
  SD $-0.030 -0.48% 7,257,193 33.45% 6,611,253 30.47% 645,940 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AWC with 602,505 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
