December 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4194 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2650 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2786 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Anika Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ANIK), Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ALXA), Sino-Global Shipping America Ltd (NASDAQ:SINO), Biostar Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:BSPM), Bridgeline Digital Inc (NASDAQ:BLIN), (NYSE:DGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ANIK $-2.530 -21.17% 131,478 34.05% 239,829 62.11% -108,351 -428
  ALXA $-0.640 -11.59% 833,320 47.47% 934,271 53.22% -100,951 -1,577
  SINO $-0.240 -12.70% 53,398 42.78% 71,432 57.22% -18,034 -751
  BSPM $-0.130 -11.02% 35,826 35.05% 66,389 64.95% -30,563 -2,351
  BLIN $-0.400 -17.78% 118,291 37.72% 185,296 59.09% -67,005 -1,675
  DGAZ $-2.200 -12.17% 48,306 31.50% 64,740 42.22% -16,434 -75
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANIK with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-2.53000 and a Friction Factor of -428 shares. That means that it only took 428 more shares of selling than buying to move ANIK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
